In addition to clinic staff and faculty advisors, CIPPIC has a number of Associates: lawyers, legal scholars and other experts working with the clinic as researchers, writers, advocates, teachers, and/or advisors on cases and projects involving law and new technologies.

Philippa LawsonPhilippa (Pippa) Lawson was CIPPIC’s inaugural Director, establishing and operating the clinic from 2003 to 2008. Kris KleinKris Klein has more than a decade of experience in the federal regulatory arena, which he gained in both the public and private sectors in Canada. He is also one of the country’s leading experts on the application of the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Wendy E. ParkesWendy E. Parkes, B.A.Hons. (Carleton), LL.B.(Ottawa)Wendy Parkes is the Senior Researcher for CIPPIC's study of the legal and policy dimensions of identity theft. She is currently writing a White Paper on Identity Theft which pulls together the results of the two-year study and sets out recommendations for legislators and policy makers. Wendy teaches legal writing at the University of Ottawa Law School. She also consults on legal and policy issues, with a focus on privacy, security and identity theft. For several years Wendy was an associate of the law firm McFarlane Lepsoe, where she specialized in civil litigation and privacy law. Before that she was a Legal Policy Analyst with the Canadian Bar Association, where she drafted and edited submissions to Parliament on a wide range of issues. Prior to beginning her legal career, Wendy served in a number of senior advisory positions with the Department of Foreign Affairs and other federal government departments. Harley FinkelsteinHarley Finkelstein recently completed his LL.B. at the University of Ottawa, and will be beginning his MBA at the school’s management faculty in Fall 2008.In 2005 he graduated with distinction from Concordia University where he received his degree in Economics. Harley was an intern at CIPPIC during the 2008 winter term, and has been an advisor to the clinic since his departure. He is also a serial entrepreneur having launched a number of successful tech startups, as well he is the founder of one of Canada’s leading collegiate apparel companies. Additionally, Harley serves as a mentor to the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) for their student program, and sits on the financing committee for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF). His current focus is business law, more specifically corporate finance, and he has interned and subsequently summered with a well known business law firm in Ottawa.
