Telecommunications Policy Review
Telecommunications Policy Review
Together with the Public Interest Advocacy Centre, Consumers' Association of Canada, and National Anti-Poverty Organization, CIPPIC filed an 86 page submission on August 15th with the federal Telecom Policy Review Panel. The submission covers a wide range of issues including social and economic implications of new technologies, consumer protection, access to broadband service, and privacy. Among many recommendations, the Consumer Groups call for a national Telecommunications Ombudsman, ongoing government funding of community broadband initiatives, and continued regulatory intervention to guard against monopolistic and competitive abuses by service providers.
