CIPPIC Consulted in Ontario’s New Report on the Use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy

Public consultation is vital in shaping the understanding and responsible use of emerging technologies. CIPPIC is pleased to have participated in the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario’s consultation on the recently released “Guardrails for Police Use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy in Ontario.” In its consultation, CIPPIC advocated for strong oversight and proactive publication requirements to increase public trust in the use of these emerging technologies by law enforcement and public safety actors in their investigative work.
