Election Call Kills Bill C-61

Bill C-61, the Conservative government's one-sided bill to bring the Canadian Copyright Act into the digital age, has died with the dissolution of Parliament. However, copyright industry advocates and grassroots activists will get no rest: copyright has already been identified as an issue for many candidates, and - regardless of the outcome of the October 14th election - copyright policy will continue to be hotly contested file for the new government.
