USA study finds increasing digital surveillance
A new study by the Centre for Democracy and Technology (CDT) based in Washington, D.C., points to the growing gap between technologies that collect personal information and laws designed to protect individual privacy. In "Digital Search & Seizure: Updating Privacy Protections to Keep Pace with Technology," CDT looks at how web-based email, location awareness and other new technologies are eroding the privacy of innocent individuals, and argues for stronger privacy protections.
